Beloved Golf Tournament Will Conclude After 30 Years, Raising Over $500,000 in Honor/Memory of Jone Bowman
After three decades of community spirit, generosity, and unwavering dedication, the annual Jone L. Bowman Memorial Tournament will officially come to a close in September 2026. Since its founding, the tournament has raised more than $500,000 to support cancer-related causes and local families in need, leaving a legacy that will continue to make an impact long after the final putt.
The tournament was created by the employees of D.M. Bowman, Inc., when Jone Bowman, a cherished member of the community, was diagnosed with breast cancer. The tournament continued to honor her memory following her death in 2014. What began as a small gathering of friends and supporters grew into a signature event that brought together golfers, sponsors, and volunteers year after year.
“This tournament has always been about more than golf. It’s been about love, remembrance, and the power of people coming together for a cause bigger than themselves,” said Don Bowman, Jone’s husband and founder of the Bowman companies. “Jone’s spirit has guided this event from the beginning, and her legacy will continue to inspire us.”
Over its 30‑year history, the tournament funded programs that provided comfort, support, and resources to individuals and families affected by cancer.
As the organizers retire the event, they expressed deep gratitude to everyone who contributed to its longevity and impact.
“Ending the tournament is bittersweet, but we do so with full hearts, knowing the difference this community has made together,” said Linda Ebersole, Jone’s daughter. “Mom would be proud of what we accomplished in her name.”
Though the tournament has reached its final chapter, its legacy of compassion and community support will continue through the lives it touched and the funds it raised. And the family will continue to support the American Cancer Society through the Jone L. Bowman Family Foundation.
