This past weekend, D.M. Bowman sent several technicians to compete at the Maryland Motor Truck SuperTech competition. SuperTech is a premier skills competition for professional commercial vehicle technicians. We are excited to share that three of our student techs entered the competition with 2 of them placing! Congratulations to Josh Gerber for winning the overall competition for students. Josh will be continuing on and competing at the National competition! Isaac Kyne also came in third place with Shane Titus rounding out our student competitors.
In addition to the student competitors, Daniel Porter, a senior tech located at our Williamsport shop, won the engine diagnostic station at the competition. Daniel has been with D.M. Bowman for 9 years!
Congratulations to all of our competitors and best of luck to those continuing on at the National level. Thank you for representing D.M. Bowman well at SuperTech!
Josh Gerber, the student tech champion, is one of our first apprentices acquired through the Youth Apprenticeship Maryland Program, currently being piloted through the Washington County Public School System. The Youth Apprenticeship Maryland Program formed under the direction of Governor Hogan to aid in creating a pipeline of skilled and qualified labor in both traditional and nontraditional fields, by combining on-the-job training and related classroom instruction to eligible high school students. D.M. Bowman is proud to have been selected as one of 30 businesses in the state of Maryland (and the only transportation company) for the pilot program. Our other student technicians, Isaac and Shane, came from the James Rumsey Technical Institute located in Martinsburg, WV. James Rumsey has been a great partner of D.M. Bowman and we appreciate the fine technicians and drivers that come through their program. To learn more about the James Rumsey Technical Institute, click here to view their website.
