This week we had the pleasure of stopping by D.M. Bowman, Inc in Wiliamsport and congratulating their newest apprentice, Joshua Gerber, a Washington County Technical High School senior. Joshua is pictured with his mentor, Troy Raffensberger. Joshua is off to a great start! His natural ability and talent, along with the skills he’s honed in automotive repair at WCTHS, has him well prepared to learn the ins and outs of being a diesel mechanic. With a great mentor like Troy, Joshua is sure to take his skills to the next level!

Amazon, UPS and others are exploring using drones to deliver packages to people’s doorsteps, but some companies are thinking bigger — autonomous cargo drones the size of small airplanes.
They are designing unmanned cargo airplanes to compete with short-haul trucks and small freight aircraft, and testing prototypes while pushing for their large fixed-wing drones to play a key role in the next wave of logistics.
Operation Safe Driver Week, an annual enforcement blitz by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance, is set this year for July 15-21.
During the weeklong blitz, enforcers will focus on traffic violations, seat belt enforcement, driver roadside inspections and driver regulatory compliance. CVSA says driver behavior is the cause of more than 88 percent of large truck crashes and 93 percent of passenger vehicle crashes.
